DJ Lenear, left and Garrett Johnson share a laugh during their game against Brockport at Greece Athena High School in Rochester, N.Y. on May 11, 2017. DJ and Garrett, both members of the Unified Sports Greece basketball team, have high functioning intellectual disabilities. Unified Sports is an inclusive sports program that united Special Olympics athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) and partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities) as teammates for training and competition.
DJ passes back to Garrett during their game against Rush Henrietta High school. "Passing is an integral part of Unified Sports," says Sheryl Rimore, Head Coach. "They may not score a lot but their passing numbers are high which is what we pride our athletes on, inclusion."
DJ and Garrett playfully wrestle on the court before their game. Along with playing basketball, the two also wrestle together but since it's currently in the off-season of wrestling, they practice whenever/where ever they can. "Wrestlers have a strong brotherly bond," says Garrett. "We bring that over to basketball."
After a loss to Rush Henrietta high school, DJ gives a motivation speech to the team. "Without loss or mistakes," says DJ. " There is no room to grow so hold your head up. We have two games left before the finals so lets rally back and focus."

DJ whispers in Garrett's ear that his crush came to the game and is standing over at the scoring table (in purple). "They've been talking for a long time," says DJ. "but they've never met so she wanted to surprise him."
